On behalf of BusinessDay Media Limited, we wish to invite to attend the 2019 edition of the BusinessDay Agribusiness and Food Security Summit. The Summit will hold on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Landmark Centre, Plot 2 & 3, Water Corporation Drive, Victoria Island Annex, Lagos.
Every year, BusinessDay Media Limited, the publishing company of Nigeria’s foremost business title, hosts the Agribusiness and Food security summit, taking the lead to set an agenda for agricultural prosperity in Nigeria.
The annual summits have so far been unarguably among the biggest and most diverse agriculture sector-focused events in Nigeria, bringing together, virtually every notable stakeholder in the agriculture value chain.
It has consistently drawn progressive farmers, resellers, distributors, importers, government officials, academics, seed companies, agricultural machinery vendors, fertiliser producers, agrichemical makers, packaging companies, and many more.
Last year’s Summit, which held under the theme Evolving Actionable Models to make Agribusiness more viable had an impressive turnout matched by impactful discussions.
Speakers included Chief Audu Ogbeh, the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development, and Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State.
Building on the success of previous events, the 2019 edition of the BusinessDay Agribusiness and Food Security Summit will seek to consolidate on the deliberations of the previous summits.
This year’s summit will have the theme Fixing the Broken Linkages between Farm and Market. It will adopt a resolutely solutions-based approach. Speakers and panellists will proffer solutions to pressing issues, instead of rehashing problems that are already familiar and well documented.
Local and foreign experts and organizations with solid, cognate experience and outstanding success rates in the focus areas will be assembled by BusinessDay to identify practical solutions to some of the problems in the agribusiness value chain.
In 2019, advocacy for policy change and support for private sector action will be of utmost priority across all sessions.
CONFERENCE STRUCTURE AND PANELS
Discussions at the Summit will be focused on four engaging panels.
We believe that given a combination of the disciplined policy thrust and private sector commitment, these identified areas can play a big part in the improvement of the agricultural value chain, while delivering enhanced investor returns.
The panel discussion session will center on the following:
Panel 1: Risk Management Approaches and Solutions for the Agricultural Finance and Trading
Panel 2: Optimizing value by eliminating post-harvest losses
Panel 3: State of Agriculture in the States
Panel 4: Improving the attractiveness of local backward integration for multinationals in Nigeria
